Don't fence me in

'Twas good to live when all the range,
Without no fence or fuss,
Belonged in partnership to God,
The Government and us.

With skyline bounds from east to west
And room to go and come,
I liked my fellow man the best
When he was scattered some.

When my old soul hunts range and rest
Beyond the last divide,
Just plant me on some stip of west
That's sunny, lone and wide.

Let cattle rub my tombstone round,
And coyotes wail their kin,
Let hosses come and paw and the mound
But don't you fence it in!

Don't fence me in

Hey Folks,
I really need your help. I am just getting the Vaqueros and Buckaroos web site going and it will take a while before it gets a foot hold and takes off. I have limited time each week to put into it but I know for a fact that it will be enough time once things get rolling. I want it to be an open forum for folks in the ranching industry to be able to use: to have their stories posted, articles, photos, gripes and bitches aired when there's a need....
I do not want it to be another generic web page that only re-posts already published articles from the web....
So, I need your help..... send me stuff....I know, not a terribly articulate request but it's exactly what I need..... your photos, stories that go with them... Stories about your rancho, or your grandpa's place or how your kid is doing in 4h. How about your gripes about the government, or the BLM (will post anonymously of course if requested)...Historical pieces of days gone by, anything at all that tells the tales of those of us who refuse to let the tradidions die.
If you are a wannabe and wanna contribute, that's ok too.. How about you folks from Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, the Netherlands etc.... you're in here everyday... Send me stiories and articles about your experiences with the cowboy way of life abroad....
And e-mail me photos to go with it... or maybe just to post by themselves.... If you haven't got a scanner or a way to send photos online, then snail mail 'em to me and I'll scan and return them to you. And, if you are a closet cowboy poet, send some of your work along... and your rotten jokes too, just keep 'em claen enough for the young folks that may read 'em.....
So come on.... give me a hand. Help me make this page a place that folks can come and get the real stories about us all....the vanishing breed of the west....
Thanks...
Kate Howe
